Quintin Sherard got the keys to his apartment in Fontana with much fanfare.
“This is a monumental moment in the history of San Bernardino County addressing its homeless population needs,” said county Supervisor Josie Gonzales.
Sherard, a Marine Corps veteran, had been homeless since 2015 – the same year that the county of San Bernardino launched an initiative to end homelessness among its veteran population.
“With everyone’s combined efforts you will be our 1,000th housed, homed veteran,” said Gonzales.
“I’m overwhelmed. I am grateful. I feel like a person again,” said Sherard.

LIGHTHOUSE CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
It is amazing to realize that LightHouse Social Service Centers has been serving the community for 10 years! As you may know LightHouse provides housing support services to veterans, families and individuals and works to provide permanent housing solutions to persons who are literally homeless or at significant risk of becoming homeless. It is our on-going mission to enhance lives, meet the diverse needs of individuals and families, and to build strong healthy communities.
In order to meet our mission and continue to provide services to our community, we rely on the generosity of businesses and individuals for support. Without the assistance of community-minded businesses and individuals like you, we wouldn’t be able to serve those persons who are most in need in our community.
If you’re a business owner or know community-minded business owners, ask us about our Sponsorship Packages; we would love to showcase businesses in our community.
