Melissa MacGown, MFT
Melissa graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 2002, with a concentration in Psychology. She earned Dean's List recognition twice and pursued her Marriage & Family Therapist License, completing over 3,000 hours of supervised experience in the field. Melissa began working with young children as a population served (at Head Start & San Luis Obispo Child Development Center). She earned her Master's Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling, at University of Phoenix in 2008. She graduated with honors and a 3.9 GPA. During that time, she worked with adolescents in group homes for 3 years at Plan It Life, Inc. Her career includes outpatient counseling & crisis management services (at Straight Talk, Inc. & South Coast Community Services). Melissa further has an extensive background in working with adults in residential in-patient substance abuse rehabilitation counseling & treatment, as well as dual-diagnosis mental health services (at Salvation Army ARC, Refuge Treatment Center & Above It All, Inc). She has worked as a Clinical Director and supervises/ manages several student trainees, at LightHouse; gaining hours of experience towards licensure. In addition, she serves as Chief Compliance Officer for LightHouse Social Service Centers.
